We like to celebrate the start of a new month with a look back at something kick ass.
1872 -
Yellowstone becomes world's FIRST National Park.
What is not
to love about this? This set a precedent for many more great parks to follow, here are some facts on Yellowstone that you may find
interesting..
-Yellowstone Lake is one of the largest
high-altitude lakes in North America
- Yellowstone Caldera, the largest supervolcano
on the continent. The caldera is considered an active volcano. It has
erupted with tremendous force several times in the last two million
years.
-Half of the world's geothermal features are in Yellowstone, fueled by
this ongoing volcanism.
-Over 1,700 species of trees and
other vascular plants are native to the park
